Department of Accounting and Finance

The Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance at MY-MLC aligns with the national harmonized curriculum, ensuring that its program complies with the educational standards set by the Ethiopian government. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the accounting and finance field, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

This program specifically prepares Accounting and Finance graduates for adherence to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), replacing the traditional Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). As mandated by the Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia (AABE), public institutions, financial entities, and businesses are required to transition to IFRS. The areas of study within Accounting and Finance encompass Financial Accounting and Reporting, Cost and Managerial Accounting, Corporate Finance, Accounting Information Systems, Accounting for Public Sector and Civil Society, Public Finance and Taxation, and Auditing. In addition to the program's core components, it integrates various supporting subjects such as Law, Information Technology, Quantitative Techniques, and Economics relevant to the Accounting and Finance agenda.

The department's main goal is to produce graduates who are not only academically competent but also well-prepared to contribute significantly to Ethiopia's economic and financial sectors. Through a nationally adapted curriculum, students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for success in diverse accounting and finance roles within the Ethiopian context and beyond.
